27 November 2023 - The City of Casey in Melbourne's south-east has completed the first phase of its digital transformation journey with TechnologyOne, allowing it to become a more connected community and prepare for the future.

A TechnologyOne customer since 2007, the City of Casey made the decision to transition its on-premise IT infrastructure to Software as a Service (SaaS) in October 2022 as part of its Transformation Strategy, that aims to modernise the way the organisation operates while enhancing the customer experience.

City of Casey Chief Executive Officer, Glenn Patterson said Council is committed to exploring and implementing solutions that enhance our future-readiness so we can continue to grow as technology evolves.

"We're a large, growing Victorian local government authority of 395,000 people, and for us, understanding and evolving to meet our resident's and organisation's needs is a priority. This includes the expansion of our digital services and being able to access them seamlessly and securely via our website. We also want to use technology to improve the maintenance and management of our community assets and facilities."

Over the past eight months, the teams at City of Casey and TechnologyOne collaborated to deliver phase one of their SaaS implementation, transitioning its existing TechnologyOne OneCouncil solution, including Financials, Supply Chain, Enterprise Asset Management, Enterprise Content Management, Property and Rating and Intramaps.

From phase one of Casey's digital transformation journey, staff, residents and visitors will benefit from the highest level of security, always-on reliability and peace of mind that system upgrades, data security and performance are taken care of by TechnologyOne.

"We have been pleased with the success of the first phase of our move to TechnologyOne's SaaS. We can't wait to see the benefits this has for our community and organisation," Mr Patterson said.

TechnologyOne's Chief Executive Officer, Ed Chung, said that by modernising its IT infrastructure, Casey can focus on becoming a 'smart city' and delivering better services for the community.

"We have 36 years of experience working with hundreds of councils across Australia, New Zealand and the UK, and what we've seen is better collaboration is the community, streamlined data-sharing, stronger cybersecurity, and modern solutions that will keep up with changes," Mr Chung said.

"City of Casey's transition to SaaS brings significant benefit, not just for their team, but their community, which we know is a high priority for them and many other councils. We are extremely proud to work with Council on their digital transformation journey."

The next phase of City of Casey's digital transformation project will see it undertake a greenfield reimplementation of the full OneCouncil ERP solution into CiA. This will provide the council with a fully interconnected solution accessible on any device, anywhere, any time.
