MILAN, Nov 8 (Reuters) - Telecom Italia (TIM) on Wednesday reported an 8.6% rise in core profit for the third quarter, as its battered domestic business performed better than expected and the group's Brazilian unit continued to do well.

Italy's biggest telecoms company said core earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation after lease costs (EBITDA-AL) on a like-for-like basis stood at 1.42 billion euros in the three months through September.

That compares with a 1.31 billion euro company-provided analyst consensus, which was broadly in line with the year-ago figure. (Reporting by Elvira Pollina; Editing by Valentina Za)
