Thales : Corporate Responsibility policy recognised by the United Nations’ Global Compact

For the third consecutive year, Thales has achieved the GlobalCompact Advanced level under the United Nations Global Compact programme, of which Thales has been a member since 2003.
The United Nations Global Compact is a recognition programme which imposes the respect of 21 specific criteria related to sustainable performance.
It is one of highest standards of reporting and performance in terms ofresponsible development.
This year, the programme required external evaluation, which Thales successfully passed, by means of peer review.
Of the 8000 Global Compact member companies, just 360 worldwide and 31 in France have achieved Global Compact Advanced level.
For almost 15 years, Thales has deployed a proactive Corporate Responsibility policy which is embedded at the heart of its strategy.
As a result, the Group is committed to conducting its business with absolute integrity and in accordance with strict ethical standards.

What is the Global Compact?
The Global Compact was launched at UN Headquarters in New York on 26 July 2000. The Secretary General invited business leaders to join the international initiative, which aims to rally companies, professional organisations, employees and civil society around a set of universal principles relating to social responsibility and the environment.
Through collective action, the Global Compact seeks to promote responsible corporate citizenship to ensure that the business community plays its role in meeting the challenges of globalisation.
About the Global Compact in France
The Global Compact France is the local French representation of the United Nations Global Compact Office in New York. It was officially launched on 27 January 2004 by the UN Secretary General and the President of the French Republic. As of 7 July 2014, over 1000 French companies and professional organisations had signed up to the Global Compact, making France one of the 10 best Global Compact networks in 2014.
Thales is one of the European leaders in manufacturing and marketing of electronic equipment and systems for the defense and security, aerospace, and transportation sectors. Net sales break down by product group as follows:
- defense and security systems (53.4%): C4I defense and security systems (control and monitoring systems, communication, protection, cyber-security, and other systems), defense mission systems, naval systems, electronic war systems, drones, air operation systems (air defense, air surveillance), ground defense systems and missiles;
- aerospace systems (28.4%): avionics equipment (cockpit, cabin multimedia, and simulation equipment), space systems (satellites, payloads, etc.);
- digital identification and security solutions (18.2%).
Besides, the group owns a 35% stake in Naval Group (manufacture of naval equipment for defense and nuclear energy sectors).
Net sales are distributed geographically as follows: France (29.5%), the United Kingdom (6.6%), Europe (24.8%), the United States and Canada (14%), Asia (9.4%), Near and Middle East (6%), Australia and New Zealand (4.4%) and other (5.3%).
