Our inaugural Future Leaders@CLX cohort was onboarded virtually during the pandemic.
If you build it, they will come.
Our university recruiting team took that mantra to heart to develop Future Leaders@CLX, a program that will help Clorox build an even more inclusive and diverse work culture while developing budding talent while they're still in school.
Here's how it works:
Clorox recruits diverse, entry-level talent with "diversity" defined by race or ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, military veterans, low socio-economic status and first-generation college students.
Participants commit to a three-year development program while they're still in school, including a first-year orientation and two summer internships and/ or six-month co-ops which are full-time internships during the school year.
Everyone wins. The students get real-world job experience and a shot at a full-time position with Clorox after graduation if they excel in the program, and Clorox gets entry-level talent who've already received extensive practical training based on our values, processes and the Success@CLX framework.
Because safety remains a top priority during COVID, the 2021 program was modified so participants enjoyed three virtual, half-day sessions in July and three full, onsite days at our Pleasanton, California, campus in September.
For the July half-day sessions, the focus was on our company, culture, purpose, values and the IGNITE strategy.
In September, the students enjoyed in-person case studies, panels, networking events and formal interviews to advance to the next phase, which will include a 10-week apprenticeship or six-month co-op with Clorox in 2022.

Check out some of the feedback we've already received from Future Leaders@CLX participants:
"Being a part of this 3-day virtual program gave me so much insight to how Clorox operates! I loved speaking with all of the guest speakers, and I can see why they love Clorox so much."
- Shirfei T.
"This was a golden opportunity for me to network with industry professionals from Clorox and gain hands-on experience through case studies. This provided me a unique platform to get exposed to the various functions (marketing, finance, etc.) at one of the largest global manufacturers of consumer products. Thank you Clorox!"
- Siri P.
"It was an amazing experience to learn more about The Clorox Company. I am so grateful for everyone who took time to help and guide us. I came into this program without much knowledge of what I wanted to do, but after this program I have learned a lot! Thank you again!"
- Joy O.
