(Alliance News) - Toscana Aeroporti Spa on Thursday let it be known that Enac has approved the executive design of the new terminal at Pisa Airport.

Thus, Galilei's 2014-2018 airport development plan comes into full swing, the company explained in a note.

After the preliminary works of war clearance, sub-system re-protection and demolition, the next phases include the construction of a new 6,200-square-meter building and the expansion and renovation of the current terminal for a total of about 12,000 square meters.

"The phased advancement of the interventions is necessary to allow the airport to operate, which will remain active throughout the construction period," reads the company's memo.

This phase of the plan involves an investment of about more than EUR50 million, with a duration of 806 days, which - when added to the preparatory works already carried out for about EUR4 million, EUR3 million of related works and EUR23 million planned for the improvement works envisaged in the Terminal Use Plan - amounts to a total investment of about EUR80 million.

Finally, the board today approved the awarding of the works to the in-house company Toscana Costruzioni, formed by Toscana Aeroporti and Cemes.

Toscana Aeroporti on Thursday closed 0.9 percent in the red at EUR11.50 per share.
