Toshiba Corp., which has solicited ideas for options to strategically reorganize itself, including privatization, has received a proposal from a consortium led by Japan Industrial Partners, an investment fund, the company said Thursday.

"The company will assess the proposal and will continue to act in the best interests of the shareholders and other stakeholders of the company," Toshiba said in a statement.

In April 2022, Toshiba put itself up for auction after its earlier plan to split the company into two was rejected due to pressure from foreign shareholders who were in favor of selling the whole company to a private-equity firm.
