UBER's lengthy battle with London's transport authorities appears over after it was granted a two and a halfyear licence over the weekend.

Transport for London (TfL) had denied the Silicon Valley firm a licence in 2019, citing a host of safety and driver identification concerns.

Since then Uber has introduced a host of changes on the driver-end of its technology platform in an attempt to address those issues, as well as instituting a minimum wage whilst driving and holiday pay provisions for drivers on its platform.

"As we continue to serve London, we remain focused on raising industry standards in all areas. These include offering drivers the benefits and protections they deserve, ensuring all Londoners can get around safely and becoming a fully electric platform by 2025," the firm tweeted over the weekend.

Uber and other app-based operators are considering price rises as drivers struggle with increasing energy costs eating into margins.
