Kevin Plank, who founded Under Armour, is returning to the CEO role which he left five years ago.

The leadership change is aimed at re-energizing the brand, according to a New York Times report.

Plank started the company in 1996. After he stepped away as top leader the brand hired Patrik Frisk and then Stephanie Linnartz for the CEO role.

The latest CEO change, effective April 1, is about helping the brand "make the right choices to put us back on a path to actively build and drive toward our full brand potential," according to Plank's LinkedIn announcement.
