Fosslia care center in Stjordal in Trondelag has been awarded Veidekke's Scandinavian HSE prize for 2023.

The project, in close cooperation with all parties involved, has succeeded in achieving extremely low sickness absence and has not had a single injury due to absence during the entire construction period.

During the construction period, the Fosslia care center has distinguished itself with clear guidelines and very good results for health, environment and safety. Examples of this are involving planning both with all own employees and subcontractors, visible and clear management and close cooperation with the customer Stjordal municipality.

There are several vulnerable user groups on and around the construction site. Among other things, two nurseries, a primary school and a residential area which have resulted in several HSE challenges that the project has had to take into account. Active involvement and collaboration with these has been important:

I am impressed by how the project team has involved the local environment so that the construction site added something positive to the local area instead of being a burden. This has given both high levels of well-being and impressive results. Safety at Veidekke always has the highest priority, both for our employees and everyone else affected by our operations, says Veidekke's CEO Jimmy Bengtsson.

Fosslia care center consists of 76 housing units as well as a service building with a day centre, shop/kiosk and hairdresser/foot care salon. The contract was a total contract worth just over NOK 250 million excl. VAT. which was entered into in December 2020. Construction work started in January 2021 with handover in autumn 2023.
