Veidekke has today signed a contract with Fornebubanen for the construction of the tunnel on the 2.35 kilometer long stretch from Lysaker in Baerum to Vaekero in Oslo. The assignment has an estimated value of NOK 1.145 billion excl. VAT.

In Veidekke, we are proud to build projects that so clearly provide added value for society. This is sustainable urban development, and we have a developer who has proven to be open to good input on both implementation and the environment. We thank you so much for the trust and look forward to finally being able to start working, says director Neal Nordahl in Veidekke Anlegg.

Veidekke will operate the tunnel from Lysaker to Vaekero, including escape routes and station halls for Lysaker and Vaekero stations. The tunnel work will be carried out via a cross section (side tunnel) on Lilleaker. The excavation work is considered complicated, and the contract includes challenging geology and crossing under the Lysaker River, with critical injection work. The work takes place close to the country's busiest railway section, which will be in full operation throughout the construction period.

We are naturally pleased to have all the necessary decisions in place, so that today we could sign the tunnel contract with Veidekke. They have delivered a solid and thorough offer and have an experienced and competent team. Together, we will create a safe and good project implementation, so that the tunnel section can be handed over within the framework of the Fornebubane project, says project manager Andreas Finstad in Fornebubanen.

Planned start-up for tunnel operation from Lysaker is in September, while construction work on Vaekero is planned to start in October 2023. Rigging on Lysaker will start immediately and the work is planned to be completed in May 2025.
