SAO PAULO, Aug 15 (Reuters) - Brazilian fuel distributor Vibra Energia SA on Monday reported that its second-quarter net profit jumped 85.1% from a year earlier, helped by a surge in oil prices.

Vibra's net profit came in at 707 million reais ($138.72 million), while analysts had forecast 761 million reais, according to Refinitiv data.

Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) grew 58.3% to 1.61 billion reais, above the estimate of 1.43 billion reais.

Vibra said the strong performance was helped by a "significant contribution from the surge of oil prices coupled with an all-time high in the diesel crack spreads".

The fuel distributor's adjusted EBITDA margin came in at 175 reais per cubic meter, or 52.3% higher than last year. However, excluding non-recurring effects, the margin was 124 reais per cubic meter, in line with the second quarter of 2021.
