Construction work will begin this week on Chadstone's new hotel, with Hickory Group confirmed as the chosen builder to develop the $130 million project.
AccorHotels, Australia's largest hotel operator, will manage the 250-room luxury hotel under its MGallery by Sofitel brand, which will become part of a world-class shopping, dining and entertainment destination.

Chadstone General Manager Fiona Mackenzie said: 'We're excited to see construction start and for the new Chadstone hotel to come to life.
'We want to create Melbourne's premier suburban hotel experience from the moment our guests walk through the lobby. The highest quality finishes will continue through every room and suite, and throughout the restaurants, rooftop pool and leisure precinct.'

Ms Mackenzie said Chadstone was pleased to be working with Melbourne-based Hickory Group, given its focus on innovation and a customer-centric approach which would help minimise disruption to customers and the broader Chadstone community.

Construction and management of the new 250-room hotel will create more than 1,300 new jobs, including 1,250 jobs in construction and 120 ongoing roles in the operation of the hotel.

Ms Mackenzie said the hotel would capitalise on the 23 million visitors that visit Chadstone each year, including the estimated 350,000 international tourists.

'Guests will enjoy superior boutique accommodation with views of Melbourne's cityscape, Port Phillip Bay and the Dandenong Ranges, as well as premium dining and conference facilities.
