Waga Energy announces that it has signed a contract with Decatur Hills Landfill to produce biomethane in the town of Greensburg, Indiana (USA).

Under the terms of the agreement, Waga Energy will finance the construction of a production unit using its patented Wagabox technology to convert the gas emitted by landfill waste into biomethane.

WagaEnergy will operate the unit for at least 20 years, and will support Decatur Hills Landfill in optimizing methane capture and energy production on site.

Waga Energy specifies that its Wagabox unit will be able to process up to 1,600 m3/h of raw gas and produce 55 GWh of biomethane per year. Its production will be injected directly into the local gas network.

The unit, which will be commissioned in 2025, will prevent the emission of over 9,000 tonnes of eqCO2 into the atmosphere every year.

Thanks to the Wagabox solution, the gas produced spontaneously by the Decatur Hills site, until now burned in a flare, will be used to supply the local community with clean, local and renewable gas', sums up Guénaël Prince, Managing Director of Waga Energy USA.
