Qualifications: Masters, Master of Science in Engineering Geology, University of London; Diploma: Diploma in Engineering Geology, Imperial College of Science and Technology; Degree: Bachelor of Science (Honours) Degree in Geology, The National University of Malaysia. Working experience and occupation: Dato' Yunus Bin Abd Razak had an illustrious 36-year career in the civil service (1979 - 2015) serving in the Department of Geological Survey which later rebranded as the Department of Mineral and Geoscience in 2001 and retired as the Director General for the said department after ten (10) years of his excellence service. Dato' Yunus was the first Chairman of the Board of Geologists Malaysia (2014- 2020) and had formerly held positions as President of the Society of Engineering Geology and Rock Mechanics, President of the Institute of Geology Malaysia, President of the Geological Society of Malaysia and Associate Fellow at Institute for Environment and Development (LESTARI) in UKM.

At the regional level, he had served as Permanent Representative of Malaysia to the Coordinating Committee for Geoscience Programme in East and Southeast Asia ("CCOP"). CCOP has 15 member countries and supported by 14 other cooperating counties in the world. He had served as Chairperson for CCOP Steering Committee for three (3) years and was the Head of Delegation for Malaysia at numerous international meetings.

Currently, Dato' Yunus is the Honorary Advisor and Vice Chairman for Advisory Group to CCOP, Associate Fellow with the Southeast Asia Disaster Prevention Research Initiative (SEADPRI) at UKM. He sits in the Board of several mineral resource related companies.
