Japan Post Group, Yamato Group Reach Basic Agreement on

Promotion of Sustainable Logistics Services

Tokyo, June 19, 2023 - Japan Post Holdings Co., Ltd. and Japan Post Co., Ltd. (Japan Post); and Yamato Holdings Co., Ltd. and Yamato Transport Co., Ltd. (Yamato Transport) have signed a basic agreement today to collaborate with the aim of contributing to resolving various social issues related to logistics and promoting sustainable logistics services.

Primary intent of collaboration

(1)Establish transport services that contribute to enhanced customer convenience and business growth through effective utilization of the management resources of Japan Post and Yamato Transport

(2)Resolve the following logistics industry-related social issues through joint utilization of the networks and resources of Japan Post Group and Yamato Group

a. Contribute to alleviating the 2024 problem in logistics, including the shortage of truck drivers b. Contribute to environmental issues such as carbon neutrality

Details of collaboration

The following is a summary of the collaborative efforts Japan Post and Yamato Transport will undertake.

(1)Direct mail service area

Effective January 31, 2024, Yamato Transport will terminate its Kuroneko DM-Bin delivery service and relaunch it as the new service "Kuroneko Yu-Mail (tentative)," leveraging the "Yu-Mail" service offered by Japan Post. Yamato Transport will accept packages from customers, deliver them to Japan Post's regional sorting offices for accepting packages, and deliver them via Japan Post's delivery network.

(2)Small, thin parcels area

Beginning in October 2023, Yamato Transport will phase out its "Nekopos" service and replace it with a new service called "Kuroneko Yu-Packet (tentative)" leveraging Japan Post's "Yu-Packet" service.

Yamato Transport will collect the package from the customer, hand it over to Japan Post's regional sorting office (accepting packages) and deliver it via Japan Post's delivery network. By around the end of fiscal 2024, Kuroneko Yu-Packet will be available in all regions.
