YIT has launched the construction of a self-developed residential apartment building, named Asunto Oy Seinäjoen Asemapäällikkö in Veturikortteli, near Seinäjoki railway station. The six-storey residential building will contain 30 apartments and two commercial premises. It will have a gross floor area of approximately 2,200 square metres andhe value of the project is around EUR 7 million.

The new homes are scheduled for completion by the end of 2024. Asemapäällikkö is being built to energy class A standards, and solar panels will be installed on the roof of the residential building to generate some of the electricity used by the housing company. Residents will be able to monitor their water consumption through the YIT Plus service.

During the construction, only renewable electricity will be used on the construction site. The apartments in Asemapäällikkö have floor areas ranging from 25.5 to 104 square metres. In addition, the building will have two commercial premises with a combined area of approximately 230 square metres.

The courtyard will be car-free, and the residential parking spaces are designated to the parking company Seipark?s parking facility to be built in the block, where several parking spaces will be equipped with electric car charging points. When the block is completed, residents will have access to a shared fitness and club facility, a communal sauna, and facilities for remote work. One of the five artworks within the block will be placed in the cosy and green inner courtyard in the centre of the block.

The building represents high-quality brick architecture, and the red brick is in harmony with the rest of the block. The Seinäjoki station area is undergoing a major renewal with the renovation of the station hall and the addition of new commercial and office space. The total area of the business premises in the station building will be around 18 000 m2 and is expected to be completed at the turn of the year 2024-2025.

For the business premises, YIT has so far signed lease agreements with ATEA, Compass Group, Elisa and Enia, Picnic, R-kioski, VR and Welado, among others. On the first floor, there are still three excellent commercial premises available for rent, two of 80 m2 and one of 250 m2. An underpass tunnel will also be built next to the Asematalo and a parking facility will be constructed for the Seipark parking company.

The Veturikortteli complex will also include the Aallokko Family Service Centre. The South Ostrobothnian Welfare Region has purchased 80% of the premises of Aallokko and Asematalo from eQ's Yhteiskuntakiinteistöt special investment fund.
