Pennsylvania American Water Plans $1.26 Million Water Line Upgrade in Lower Makefield Township

MORRISVILLE, Pa. (October 23, 2019) - Pennsylvania American Water today announced the start of construction to replace a section of water main, as well as utility-owned service lines and fire hydrants, in Lower Makefield Township to improve water service reliability and fire protection for area residents. The cost of the project is approximately $1.26 million and will upgrade aging cast iron pipe.

Beginning the week of October 21, crews will begin to install nearly 2,400 feet of new eight-inch ductile iron water main as well as new copper service lines and fittings for some customers. Construction activity will occur on Makefield Road between Big Oak and Pennsbury Court, Pine Grove Road between Sutphin Road and Norway Drive, and Linden Avenue between Pine Grove Road and the cul-de-sac. Final paving restoration is scheduled to be completed in May 2020, weather permitting.

Crews will work Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Traffic restrictions will be in place during construction, and motorists are urged to give themselves extra time and exercise caution when traveling through the work zone.
