Pennsylvania American Water Plans $4,500,000 Sewer Main Upgrade in the City of Coatesville and Sadsbury and Valley Townships in Chester County

SADSBURY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (September 20, 2019) - Pennsylvania American Water today

announced the start of construction to install a new pressurized sewer main and to extend a gravity-fed sewer main in the City of Coatesville and Valley and Sadsbury Townships. The cost of the project is approximately $4,500,000 and will upgrade aging 15-inch main dating back to the 1990s, improving sewer service reliability for area residents.

"We continue to deliver on our commitment to upgrade aging infrastructure in the communities we serve

in Chester County, and this project is one of many substantial sewer system upgrades Pennsylvania

American Water has made in this area in recent years," said Justin Brame, Senior Operations

Superintendent for Pennsylvania American Water. "Reliable water and wastewater infrastructure is critical to sanitation and public health, and we ask for the patience and attention of motorists traveling

through our work zones while we complete this important project."

Beginning September 24, crews will begin to install nearly 5,550 feet of new 16-inch PVC sewer main and replace 8,000 of sewer main on Valley Road (Route 372). Final paving restoration is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2020, weather permitting.

Crews will work Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. A road closure with detour will be in place during construction. The road closure will move with the construction as the work progresses from the City of Coatesville to Sadsbury Township. Access to homes and properties may be limited during construction hours. Emergency services will have access when needed. Motorists are urged to give themselves extra time and exercise caution when traveling through the work zone. Customers and residents should not experience any sewer service disruptions during construction. For more information,
