Apple Inc. said a new 27-inch iMac has double the memory capacity of its predecessor and offers a 10-core Intel Corp. processor option for the first time.

The 27-inch iMac, starting at $1,799, will begin arriving to customers and will be at select Apple stores and authorized resellers starting this week.

Apple said the a Retina display with 14.7 million pixels and 1 billion colors provides "text that looks like a printed page." The company said that "for customers using their iMac more than ever to connect with friends, family, and colleagues, the FaceTime HD camera now features 1080p resolution."
