Tokyo shares fell Tuesday, with the Topix index falling for a seventh straight day to its lowest level in three and a half months, as tech issues faced heavy selling pressure after Apple Inc.'s overnight announcement that it will not meet its quarterly revenue target amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended down 329.44 points, or 1.40 percent, from Monday to a two-week low of 23,193.80. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange finished 22.06 points, or 1.31 percent, lower at 1,665.71, marking the longest losing streak since May 31 last year when the index declined for seven consecutive days.

Electric appliance, metal product and machinery issues led decliners.
