Brookdale Senior Living received three communication honors at the 2019 IABC Nashville Music City Gold Pen Awards held on August 28. IABC Nashville is a leading chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators. The annual awards ceremony included representatives from corporations, non-profits and universities vying for awards in more than 25 categories.

Brookdale Communications Manager Sharon Harper won two awards in the publications category, including an Award of Excellence for the associate e-magazine, Brookdale Vision, published since 2017. Harper also won an Award of Merit for Pardon Our Progress, a quarterly publication launched in 2019, which focuses on the company's more than $200 million spend on capital improvements for Brookdale communities.

Julie Davis, APR, Vice President of Communications, led the team that won an Award of Excellence in Change Communication for the 'CEO Transition and Ongoing Visibility Campaign.' Brookdale's internal and external communications teams, Senior Vice President of Investor Relations Kathy MacDonald and, of course, CEO Cindy Baier share in this award for creating and delivering content that purposefully supported a significant leadership change and a new company strategy.

'The goal of this project was to quickly elevate the profile of the new CEO and articulate the Company's strategic plan to various stakeholders to continue driving home the key priorities over an extended period of time,' said Davis. 'We succeeded because of the dedication and talent of our team and because of Cindy's awareness that clear and consistent communication is a strategic business advantage.'
