Nairobi, Friday 10th November 2017 Kenya Basketball Federation Women's Premier League Champions Equity Hawks, jetted off to represent the country in the FIBA Africa Champions Cup Women 2017 set to take place from November 10-19 in the Angolan capital city of Luanda.

The team emerged the first runners-up during their debut in the FIBA Africa Zone V championships held in Kampala, Uganda last month in a tournament that also saw Equity Hawks' forward Mercy Wanyama scoop the Best Power Forward for her imperious display.

Equity Hawks Head Coach David Maina noted that the residential training the team has been undergoing the last couple of weeks has given them the much needed mojo to face their opponents on the continental stage. The team comprising of 17 players and officials has what it takes to take on the other teams on the continental stage.

'We learnt our lessons from the last tournament and we are ready to show the world what the team is capable of. We are going to Angola in top spirits and I am confident that we shall make the country proud,' Maina said.

Equity Hawks who are making their bow in the continental stage will be hoping to mast the Kenyan flag fly high but will also have the expectations and aspirations of the East Africa region on their shoulders alongside their compatriots Kenya Ports Authority (KPA).

The 2017 FIBA Africa Champions Cup for Women will see 9 teams from across the continent face off. Equity Hawks has some of the best performing players in the league currently among them captain Hilda Indasi, Samba Mjomba, Eveylne Norah and Mercy Wanyama and the team is keen on upsetting their rivals and be crowned the basketball queens of Africa in Angola.
