Siemens Gamesa has announced the creation of two new production halls at their current factory in Aalborg.

Here, the wind turbine blades of the future must be developed and manufactured.

Siemens Gamesa has taken the first steps towards the establishment of two new production halls in Aalborg. Enlargement is an investment of well over 300 million. The two new production halls will produce the company's future wings of 94 meters, which have already been commissioned at Siemens Gamesa's 11 MW test mill in Osterild.

Frederikke Tommergaard, Head of Communications for Siemens Gamesa in Denmark, comments on the location that: 'It can be seen as a statement of confidence for Aalborg, as it indicates that this is where we want to produce the wings of the future for offshore wind farms around the world. Not only the current wing of 94 meters, but also wings, as they become even bigger and round 100 meters, will be manufactured and shipped from Aalborg. '

The new production halls will help produce the largest wind turbine blades that the company is producing right now, but also in the future. Apart from the possibility of large production halls, there are also some unique benefits of using Aalborg, the city's port.

'A well-functioning port is very important to us,' Frederikke Tommergaard tells Nordjyske. It also highlights an excellent collaboration with the Port of Aalborg.

The new production halls will be a total of 4,000 square meters and 14,600 square meters. The smallest of the halls will be ready for autumn 2020, while the largest hall will be ready in March 2021.
