AvalonBay Communities Inc. said its 2019 corporate responsibility achievements included the installation of 1.1 megawatts of solar power, with another 7.8 megawatts in design and under construction.

The real-estate investment trust said it attained $3.1 million in annual energy savings from light-emitting diode lighting retrofits.

In connection with the release of its corporate responsibility report, the company said it launched diversity-related programs including bias-awareness training. It also reported $2.2 million in cash and in-kind donations to regional philanthropy partners and the American Red Cross.
