(Alliance News) - Italgas is strengthening its collaboration with Tokyo Gas Network by renewing a memorandum of understanding signed at the Italian Embassy in Tokyo by CEOs Paolo Gallo and Satoshi Tanazawa, as reported by Il Messaggero on Wednesday.
The Japanese utility operates approximately 64,000 kilometers of pipelines in the Tokyo metropolitan area.
The agreement aims to consolidate strategic cooperation in gas distribution and the development of joint projects, with a focus on infrastructure safety, network resilience, and advanced digitalization. The two companies will also continue to share expertise and best practices to improve operational efficiency and network sustainability.
The partnership will also cover technological innovation to optimize infrastructure management and supply chain strengthening, with the goal of enhancing quality, performance, and sustainability. Another pillar of the agreement involves network evolution to facilitate the increasing integration of renewable gases.
Tanazawa described Italgas as 'the leading gas distributor in Europe', emphasizing that the Italian group's digitalization expertise represents 'a fundamental driver' for improving Tokyo Gas Network's operational capabilities.
Gallo highlighted that the renewal of the agreement consolidates a 'valuable relationship' and allows for the accelerated development of 'increasingly digital, resilient, and sustainable' networks, leveraging complementary skills in infrastructure management and energy security.
