Shares in producers of metals and other raw materials rose as traders continued to pile into bets that the Federal Reserve's rate-hiking cycle is complete.
Marathon Gold shares declined a session after rival gold miner Calibre Mining agreed to buy it. Atlantic Lithium shares surged after it turned down an offer from shareholder Assore International to buy out the remainder of the company, as investors bet Atlantic's West African lithium mines were worth more than Assore offered.
Shares of Quest Resource Holding fell sharply after the landfill company reported sales and earnings below analyst estimates.
