(Alliance News) - Aeroporto Guglielmo Marconi di Bologna Spa reported Tuesday that it recorded a 7.2 percent year-on-year increase in the number of passengers in February to 573,871.

In detail, both passengers on domestic flights grew by 7.9% over February 2023 and passengers on international flights by 7.0% over the same month last year. Movements, at 4,447, also show an increase over 2023, up 4.9 percent, as does air cargo, at 3,632 tons, up 8.9 percent.

Considering that 2024 is a leap year, with 29 days in February, it should be noted that with the same number of days with February in 2023 - the first 28 of the month - monthly passengers are up by 4.3 percent and flights by 2.0 percent.

The "most flown" destinations in February were Catania, Barcelona, Tirana, Paris Charles De Gaulle, Istanbul, London Heathrow, Palermo, Madrid, Bucharest and Rome Fiumicino. Of particular note were Tirana's strong growth of 52 percent, boosted by an increase in frequencies, and Istanbul, up 39 percent, which saw a pickup in travel to the Far East.

In the first two months of the year, total passengers were 1.2 million, up 7.4 percent over the same period in 2023, while movements totaled 9,438, up 6.3 percent over 2023. Air cargo transported in January and February totaled 7,131 tons, up 7.1% over 2023.

Bologna Airport's stock closed Tuesday up 3.6 percent to EUR7.98 per share.
