Shoppers at one Whole Foods store in Seattle don't need to swipe a credit card to checkout starting today. All they need is their palm, according to a Reuters report.

That's because Amazon, which owns Whole Foods, is deploying biometric technology for yet another contactless payment option.

Customers associate a credit card with their palm print but still need to scan items with the Amazon One system. Amazon's earlier cashierless technology, available at Amazon Go stores, requires no checkout action at all as it's done via an app.

The technology goes live today at the Whole Foods store near Amazon's headquarters and will be in use at seven additional stores within the next few months, according to the report.
