AngloGold Ashanti Ltd. said Tuesday that it has halted operations at its Cerro Vanguardia mine in Argentina for 10 days following the detection of Covid-19 cases among its workforce.

The South Africa-based gold miner said operations are expected to resume on Nov. 20. Movements to and from the site will be restricted to essential personnel only until Nov. 30.

The suspension is expected to have a cost of 8,000 ounces, the company said.

"Local health and labor authorities are being engaged and a full sanitization process of the site will commence," the company said.
