Tokyo stocks ended higher Tuesday as sentiment improved on strong Chinese trade data for September, with technology issues gaining ahead of Apple Inc.'s product launch later in the day.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended up 43.09 points, or 0.18 percent, from Monday at 23,601.78. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange finished 5.75 points, or 0.35 percent, higher at 1,649.10.

Gainers included air transportation, insurance and electric appliance issues.
