ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) _ Argan Inc. (AGX) on Tuesday reported a fiscal third-quarter loss of $6.9 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the Rockville, Maryland-based company said it had a loss of 44 cents.

The builder of energy plants posted revenue of $58.4 million in the period.

Argan shares have dropped nearly 10% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $34.09, a drop of 16% in the last 12 months.
