GREEN BAY, Wis. - January 31, 2022 - Associated Bank will participate in Hiring Our Heroes, a skill-bridge program that connects transitioning service members to an 11-week corporate fellowship program with the intention to offer long-term employment at the end.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Hiring Our Heroes Fellowship Programs (HOH) are best-in-class workforce development programs that place highly skilled and educated transitioning service members, veterans, military spouses and military caregivers with employers committed to hiring them. Through HOH events and programs, nearly 750,000 veterans and military spouses have found employment.

The program provides networking, professional training and hands-on experience in the civilian workforce.

"At Associated Bank we actively recruit and hire veterans, as we recognize the valuable talent and skill set they bring to the workplace," said Brent Tischler, EVP, Director of Retail Banking and Veterans Colleague Resource Group (CRG) Executive Sponsor, Associated Bank. "We have a wide range of veteran-focused initiatives to help support our customers, colleagues and communities and Hiring Our Heroes is one of many we are excited about."

This month, Associated Bank welcomed two participants in the Hiring Our Heroes Program.

Lawrence Gorton has 20 years of experience in the U.S. Army, has led up to 30,000 soldiers and has been stationed all around the country. Gorton enjoys looking at problems and finding solutions - seeing the bigger strategy and how he can help make an impact. He values collaboration and cohesion - where companies do more than work. Gorton is working in residential lending in Eau Claire.

Thomas Stady has 22 years of experience in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Germany, Texas, Florida, California and Illinois, and has managed budgets up to $44 million. Stady highly values culture, including the well-being of fellow colleagues, collaboration and working together to achieve goals. He is passionate about doing work that matters, contributing towards strategic outcomes and adding value to the organization. Stady is in operations and information technology in St. Louis.

Associated Bank was recently recognized with the prestigious Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award, in recognition of the organization's exemplary support of its National Guard and Reserve colleagues.

Associated Bank is actively supporting veterans through several initiatives across its footprint such as:

  • Mission Wisconsin: A veteran-owned talent attraction company that helps recruit military and veteran talent for jobs in the banking industry.
  • Wisconsin Veterans Chamber of Commerce: Associated Bank is a Gold Star sponsor of the chamber, supporting its efforts to help veterans succeed through business, jobs, wellness, technical training and family support.
