AST SpaceMobile, Inc. announced that Effective September 15, 2021, Shanti Gupta has been appointed Chief Accounting Officer of company and will assume the role of principal accounting officer. Rulfo Hernandez, the prior Chief Accounting Officer, assumed the role of Chief Financial Officer – International Operations effective as of the same date. Mr. Gupta has over 20 years of experience in finance and accounting providing assurance and advisory services to Fortune 500 and private companies in North America, Europe and Asia. Since 2014, Mr. Gupta has worked with Ernst & Young in New York where he has been a Partner and Managing Director in the Financial Accounting Advisory Services group. Previously, he has worked with Deloitte & Touche in New York and with KPMG in India. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in New York, and a Chartered Accountant from The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He received his Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University, India.
AST SpaceMobile, Inc. is engaged in building a global cellular broadband network in space to operate directly with standard, unmodified mobile devices based on its intellectual property (IP) and patent portfolio, and designed for both commercial and government applications. Its SpaceMobile Service is being designed to provide high-speed cellular broadband services to end-users who are out of terrestrial cellular coverage using existing mobile devices. The Company is engaged in designing and developing the constellation of BlueBird (BB) satellites in advance of launching its planned space-based cellular broadband network distributed through a constellation of low earth orbit (LEO) satellites. The Company intends to continue testing the capabilities of the BlueWalker 3 (BW3) test satellite, including further testing with cellular service providers and devices. The Company primarily operates in the United States, India, Scotland, Spain and Israel.
