BAE Systems PLC said Thursday that the directors remuneration report received a low number of votes at the annual general meeting, but was still approved.

The U.K. defense-and-aerospace company said the resolution got 76.59% of the votes cast.

The company said its directors appreciate the support that the resolution received in a challenging period and that they value dialogue with major shareholders which they said facilitated the outcome.

BAE Systems said the importance of retaining the services of a first class chief executive on competitive terms by a one-off remuneration adjustment is in the interests of all stakeholders.

"We acknowledge that it may not be possible to please all our stakeholders all of the time, but we will continue to engage and listen to ensure all views are understood and respected," it said.

Shares at 1428 GMT were up 2.8 pence, or 0.6%, at 502.80 pence.
