Baker Hughes announces that it has been awarded a contract by Snam, Europe's leading natural gas transmission, storage and regasification operator, to supply three NovaLT12 gas turbines for use in a new gas compressor station in Sulmona, Italy.

The station will form an integral part of the Adriatic Line, a Snam gas pipeline project, the first phase of which has been included in Italy's National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP).

This project involves the construction of a 425 km-long gas pipeline to transport additional energy supplies from Azerbaijan, Africa and the Eastern Mediterranean region to Northern Europe.

The adoption of Baker Hughes NovaLT12 turbines, which offer the option of running on 100% natural gas or blends of up to 10% hydrogen, represents an important step in the decarbonization of Italy's gas network infrastructure, and aligns with Snam's strategy to achieve carbon neutrality on direct emissions by 2040.
