It's not unusual to see uniformed or plain clothes police officers at Bedrocan Canada's state of the art production facility in the Greater Toronto Area. We coordinate tours for law enforcement officials, and start conversations about the science, law and social context of medical cannabis - and about the patients who use it. It's always an interesting, wide-ranging discussion, and it's an important one.

Following a facility tour we'd arranged for a number of their officers, I was invited to be a guest speaker at the Peel Regional Police annual Drug and Gang Conference. Frankly, at the moment I was introduced, it felt a little bit odd. In spite of all the science behind what we do; in spite of all we know about the unmet medical needs of so many patients, when it comes to symptom management; in spite of the fact that there's a rigorous set of federal regulations around our entirely legal business. Still, you're standing in a room, talking to more than 100 cops about cannabis!
