On March 15, 2024, Berkshire Hathaway Inc announced that it has received a shareholder proposal from Meredith Benton of Whistle Stop Capital on behalf of Myra K. Young, requesting the Company to report to shareholders on the effectiveness of the Company?s diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. The report should be done at reasonable expense, exclude proprietary information, and provide transparency on outcomes, using quantitative metrics for workforce diversity, hiring, promotion, and retention of employees, including data by gender, race, and ethnicity. In addition, the Company urged the shareholders to vote against the shareholder proposal at the annual general meeting of the Company scheduled to be held on May 4, 2024.
