Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited announced that consequent upon attaining the age of superannuation on October 31, 2023, Dr. Nalin Shinghal, Chairman has been relieved of his position on the Board of BHEL. Further, in continuation of earlier communications dated October 23, 2023 & October 30, 2023, it is informed that Shri Koppu Sadashiv Murthy has assumed the post of Chairman on the Board of BHEL with effect from November 01, 2023 to hold office untill the date of his superannuation i.e. February 28, 2027, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Further, it is hereby informed that Shri Koppu Sadashiv Murthy, newly appointed Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) has furnished a declaration that he is not debarred from holding the office of Director pursuant to any SEBI order or order of any other such authority.

Shri Koppu Sadashiv Murthy has assumed the charge of Chairman & Managing Director on the Board of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), India's largest Public Sector engineering and manufacturing enterprise with effect from 1st November, 2023. Mr. Murthy is an Electrical Engineering graduate from Bhopal University with an MBA in Finance. Prior to this, Mr. Murthy was heading Corporate Operations Management group as Executive Director, besides having additional charge of Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Pumps & Compressors Ltd., Prayagraj (BPCL).

Mr. Murthy joined BHEL in 1989 at its Jhansi unit--a transformer & locomotive manufacturing hub. During his 34 years of years of wide-ranging experience in Corporate Office and in various Manufacturing units of BHEL such as Hyderabad, Bhopal, Jhansi, and Varanasi, Mr. Murthy developed a comprehensive set of competencies in strategic, operational, project and commercial management. Mr. Murthy's career is marked by a strong track record of consistently delivering revenue and profitability, coupled with expert resource optimization.

As Head of Corporate Operations Management at Delhi, Mr. Murthy played a vital role in turning the company profitable in Fiscal Year 22-23 & Fiscal Year 21-22 after two years of losses, fostering a project-centric culture. While heading Varanasi Manufacturing Unit, Mr. Murthy successfully led all aspects of the unit's portfolio and despite the challenges posed by the partial closure/lockdown of the factory during Covid 1.0, achieved remarkable results in Fiscal Year 20-21, with a Profit Before Tax of over 25% of revenue, a historic low inventory level, and a cash surplus. As CMD, BPCL, his exceptional skills in building robust stakeholder relationships drove mutually beneficial outcomes of INR 80 Cr monetization of assets, and resolution to long-pending payment and contractual issues with customers, contractors, and suppliers.

Mr. Murthy envisions a future where BHEL excels in delivering high-quality equipment, ensures on-time EPC execution, and plays a pivotal role in contributing to India's growth.
