Speaking this week at the Women's Business Collaborative virtual event 'Driving Industry Innovation', Brookdale Senior Living CEO Cindy Baier shared key steps for authenticity and success in leadership positions. Baier advised attendees to 'Choose a path you're passionate about!' It helps, she said, when a company's culture is consistent with one's own personal values. For example, Baier pointed out that Brookdale has a culture of servant leadership, which resonates for her because of her experience in becoming a caregiver for her mother while still in middle school. And while all executives are very busy, Baier pointed out that if you are busy mostly with things that aren't important to you or don't have meaning for you, it's time to find something else to focus on. Baier urged attendees build a network of people with broad skill sets that complement their own skills, and to make sure this network includes people who will be honest and share truthful observations.

Joining Baier for this sequence of executive interviews were CEO of Wealth Management-BNY Mellon Catherine Keating, Founder and CEO of Xtreme Solutions, Inc. and Founder of ShoulderUp Phyllis Newhouse, and Cheryl Bachelder, Former CEO, Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen Inc. Interviews were conducted by Robert Reiss, CEO of The CEO Forum Group and Rebecca Shambaugh, President of SHAMBAUGH Leadership.
