Cambi ASA has been awarded a major contract to deliver two thermal hydrolysis process (THP) trains for the Tuas Water Reclamation Plant (WRP) in Singapore, which is under construction by the national water agency PUB. The solution has been selected based on technical merit, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness. Thermal hydrolysis from Cambi will enhance biogas production and reduce sludge volume to be incinerated at the adjacent Integrated Waste Management Facility (IWMF).

PUB is a statutory board under Singapore's Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE). It is one of the world's leading and most innovative water utilities, managing Singapore's water supply, water catchment, and used water in an integrated way. When completed, Tuas WRP will be receiving up to 800,000 cubic meters daily of domestic and industrial used water.

PUB is building Tuas WRP as part of the Deep Tunnel Sewerage System (DTSS) Phase 2 project, a superhighway for Singapore’s used water management. Cambi will supply THP technology to CES_SALCON-SDC JV, a joint venture between CES_SALCON Pte Ltd. and CES_SDC Pte Ltd, both part of the Chip Eng Seng Corporation (CES). CES_SDC Pte Ltd. is currently constructing Tuas WRP’s biosolids building, digesters and greasy waste receiving facility.

Tuas WRP will be the second PUB used water facility equipped with Cambi THP after Jurong WRP in 2015. The THP trains at Tuas WRP are scheduled to progressively start operating from 2025.
