The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) has announced the launch of its brand new $2 denomination polymer banknote. Designed on De La Rue's SAFEGUARD® polymer substrate, this state-of-the-art banknote joins the all-polymer series first introduced in 2019 and is one the first "next generation" polymer banknote designs with a deep integration of complementary security features into the overall banknote design.
In commemoration of ECCB's 40th anniversary, the $2 note showcases a portrait of the legendary cricketer, Sir Vivian Richards, affectionately known as "the Master Blaster." Ruby red elements within the portrait honour the milestone anniversary. Further amplifying the note's aesthetic appeal is an intricate aquatic ecosystem design, signifying the Caribbean's thriving marine life.

The banknote's visual impact is enhanced by features including the first appearance of aqua-blue tinted holographic foil, turtle imagery, and the brilliant silver of the Argentum and vibrant colours of the ILLUMINATE™ feature within the note's window.
Governor Timothy Antoine of ECCB graciously commented, "We know that in De La Rue, we have a partner on whom we can rely."
Ruth Euling, Managing Director of Currency stated "we are exceptionally proud to receive such commendation for our work, and would like to extend our congratulations to ECCB on achieving 40 years of service and for the successful launch of this innovative $2 polymer banknote."
