De La Rue : Authentication launches DLR Validate™ - advanced smartphone authentication for photopolymer and embossed holograms

De La Rue is pleased to announce the launch of DLR Validate™ a smartphone enabled hologram validation tool. This app enables authorised brand protection inspectors to scan the holographic features in a PURE™ or IZON® holographic label to verify if the hologram is genuine. It is a quick, easy and intuitive step in the existing Traceology® product authentication app that provides an extra layer of confidence in hologram verification.

The key benefits of DLR Validate™:

- DLR Validate™ provides additional assurance to inspectors authenticating a hologram, providing additional detection of 'good enough' counterfeits.

- The ease of usability and reliability enables a deeper level of inspection across a wider range of actors in the supply chain, allowing the brand owner to cast a wider net of counterfeit detection in their supply chain.

- The image capture and processing of counterfeits can contribute to ongoing understanding of techniques used and inform future label development, allowing the brand to constantly stay ahead of counterfeiters.

Developed in partnership with VISUA, DLR Validate™ leverages VISUA's innovative, enterprise-grade Visual-AI stack. It delivers unprecedented accuracy at scale, thanks to the patented Adaptive Learning Engine (ALE) at its core. This collaboration enables image processing and a rules engine that leverages the highly secure, highly repeatable nature of genuine PURE™ or IZON® holograms to search out counterfeit labels in the market, even those that are deemed 'good enough' to fool the human eye.

With configurable parameters including image volume, image diversity and batch confidence for high rates of Precision (mistaking a fake label for a genuine one) and Recall (recognising genuine labels), DLR Validate™ can achieve rates of False Positives and False negatives of, or very close to, 0%.
