  • Throughout the entire bank holiday weekend, Deliveroo will also be promoting 700 Caribbean cuisine restaurants all over the UK on the app

2021 marks two years of cancellation for Notting Hill Carnival, but this weekend, Deliveroo customers can purchase limited edition extra-large patties, stamped with artwork inspired by stories from Notting Hill Carnival Ambassadors, with all proceeds helping to fund Notting Hill Carnival 2022.

Deliveroo has teamed up with the renowned London event organisers and its ambassadors to help carnival lovers across London and Manchester get a taste of carnival at home.

Limited edition carnival-inspired artworks will be stamped onto extra-large Jamaican patties available to purchase for £5.66 in London and Manchester on 29th and 30th August, exclusively on Deliveroo. Purchases will raise much needed funds for those affected directly by the event cancellation, such as street food vendors, band players and performers.

The designs - created by Notting Hill Ambassadors and feature unique illustrations of their carnival experience and what the event means to them - will adorn patties that come in a classic spicy beef and vegetable filling, plus a spicy vegan option.

From stories of smoking hot BBQ barrels, flamboyant headdresses and costumes through to political stand points and carnival slogans, the designs honour, protect and promote the heritage of Notting Hill Carnival in all its flair and vibrancy.

  • A'sha Morris - who at just 13 years old is Carnival's youngest ambassador. She has taken part in Notting HIll Carnival Mass since she was just four months old and has been a member of the junior steel band since she was five.
  • Fiona Compton - runs the world's first 100% non-profit carnival section 'Not Asking For It', which works towards supporting Carnival masqueraders against sexual assault
  • Shakka - a singer/songwriter and producer born and raised in Notting Hill. Shakka is of Dominican heritage and draws on his culture of soca and reggae music to produce his vibrant songs. Carnival runs in the family as Shakka's mother worked there as a street food vendor
  • Chef Hasan - Trinidadian-born, Hasan, brings Jerk Chicken to the streets of Notting Hill, where he's been serving up food as a street vendor for years

Matthew Phillip, executive director at Notting Hill Carnival added: 'The impact of Notting Hill Carnival not being on the streets for two years has hit the street food vendors, bands and individuals who make it the spectacle it is hard, but it was important that we were not on the streets this year both for the safety of everyone but also the long term future of Notting Hill Carnival itself. This year we want to focus on 2022 and beyond, so we are delighted to be working with Deliveroo on its campaign to raise money for the Carnival Development Fund that will directly benefit all individuals who are impacted by Carnival, so that they can make future Carnivals even more incredible than ever before.'

Aisha Jefferson at Deliveroo said: 'We're excited to be working with Notting Hill Carnival and its ambassadors to help support the Development Fund and inspire carnival-goers to still celebrate the event this year. We hope our customers enjoy learning more about the cultural heritage and significance of the event through these specially designed Jamaican style patties, which are raising funds for future events. We might not be able to be at the carnival but there are loads of ways to bring the feeling of carnival to our homes, whether that's tuning into a live-stream or eating some delicious foods from varied local Caribbean restaurants.'

Typically there are over 300 food vendors serving food from around the world at Carnival. Deliveroo is encouraging people to support local restaurants and dine on everything from Trinidadian 'Roti' or Guyanese 'Pepper Pot' to the ever-popular 'Jamaican Jerk', which is what many people have come to know of as the scent of Notting Hill Carnival', thanks to the roaring famous jerk pit.

Deliveroo customers who aren't in delivery access to these locations can still enjoy the amazing flavours of Caribbean food over the bank holiday weekend. Across the weekend, Deliveroo will be highlighting over 700 restaurants serving different Caribbean cuisines in a dedicated section on the app - favourites including Cottons, Rudie's Jerk Shack and JRK Kitchen and Buzzrocks Caribbean.

Customers should look for the Notting Hill Carnival banner on the app and click through to see what participating restaurants are in their area.

The limited edition Notting Hill Carnival-inspired patties come in a classic spicy beef and vegetable filling, plus a spicy vegan option and will be available to order in London and Manchester on 29th - 30th August, exclusively on the Deliveroo app while stocks last.

Each patty costs £5.66 and can be found by searching 'Deliveroo's Notting Hill Carnival Patties' in theapp or online.
