HONG KONG, Aug 2 (Reuters) - Deutsche Bank has hired former Orient Securities executive Albert Chang in Hong Kong, according to a memo seen by Reuters, as the European lender rebuilds its equity capital markets operation in Asia.

Chang has been appointed to head the German bank's corporate advisory group for the Asia Pacific region, the memo said.

He most recently served as the head of equity capital markets at Orient Securities, said the memo from Mayooran Elalingam, Deutsche Bank's head of investment banking coverage and advisory for APAC.

The contents of the memo were confirmed by a Deutsche Bank spokeswoman, who declined to comment further on the appointment.

"As we continue to strategically invest in our Equity Capital Markets (ECM) offering in Asia, we will benefit from Albert's experience across both corporate finance execution and capital markets advisory," the memo said.

Deutsche Bank has been rebuilding some of its ECM team across Asia after the business was scaled down as part of a global restructuring in 2019.
