JOHANNESBURG, Sept 21 (Reuters) - South African insurer Discovery Ltd on Thursday resumed annual dividend payouts after posting a 5% rise in full-year profit amid the impact of a tough macro-economic environment and higher interest rates.

Its headline earnings per share (HEPS), a profit measure, came in at 834.3 South African cents for the year ended June 30, up from 792.4 cents a year earlier. On a normalised basis, HEPS rose by 32%.
