'Thankful for You' Showcases DG's Appreciation for its Employees Nationwide
As the season of thanks and gratitude transitions to one filled with holiday spirit, Dollar General proudly shows its appreciation for its more than 164,000 employees and for their role in fulfilling the Company's mission of Serving Others.
"This week is a fun, celebratory way to recognize and thank our team who brings our mission to life each day to serve our customers and communities," said Kathy Reardon, Dollar General's executive vice president and chief people officer. "Dollar General's success is driven by one of our operating priorities to invest in our diverse teams through development, empowerment and inclusion, and we recognize our team is the heart of our company."
DG's Thankful for You event aims to recognize employees for their contributions during a weeklong celebration filled with engaging activities and rewards. Held for Dollar General and pOpshelf employees throughout the 46 states in which the Company operates, highlights include Cheers to Peers recognition, DG Kindness story highlights, special employee awards, 'Thankful for You' tours by field leadership, complimentary employee meals, spirited accessory dress-up days, exclusive employee coupons and more. Additionally, the Company recently welcomed Store Support Center employees back to the office with a week of events and activities.
Dollar General is also celebrating its employees by supporting their hometown communities. In total, the Company plans to contribute $430,000 to local nonprofits and schools through the Thankful for You weeklong celebration.
DG distribution center and the DG Private Fleet teams plan to select local charities that will receive a financial company donation. Additionally, DG also surprised three schools that each received a $50,000 donation as part of the Company's Reading Revolution program. Funds aim to support literacy and education initiatives and may be used to purchase books, technology programs, computers and other educational resources. Recipients include:
Lilburn Elementary School in Lilburn, Georgia;
Lone Jack Elementary School in Fourmile, Kentucky; and
Waverly Elementary School, temporarily relocated in McEwen, Tennessee.
