Duke Energy : Vacant building in Price Hill will get new life thanks to $40,000 Duke Energy Foundation grant

• Over $145,000 to Price Hill Will since Urban Revitalization Program began

• Project bringing 6,985 square feet of affordable housing and 1,254 square feet of ground floor retail space

CINCINNATI - The Duke Energy Foundation is bringing some crucial improvements to a vacant building on Warsaw Avenue with a $40,000 Urban Revitalization grant to the Price Hill Will organization. The program, which was launched in 2011, has distributed over $3.3 million to more than 100 grantees across Greater Cincinnati. The grants typically provide funding for pre-development costs and serve as catalysts for further economic development in the urban core.

"The Duke Energy Urban Revitalization Program has positively changed the landscape in our region's urban cores," said Amy Spiller, president of Duke Energy Ohio and Kentucky. "Bringing into existence the inspired visions of our grant recipients makes this program so valuable to our Ohio and Kentucky neighborhoods."

Funds will be used to focus on the design phase of the vacant building in the 3500 block of Warsaw Avenue.

This project builds on the success of the Warsaw Avenue Creative Campus, a place where youth and families can learn and grow together via arts and creative pursuits in the heart of East Price Hill. Warsaw is a main corridor through East and West Price Hill and is within a block of the Price Hill Library and Price Hill Recreation Center.

"Price Hill Will is grateful for the support from Duke Energy. With these funds, we'll be able to catalyze development on a long-blighted building on Warsaw Avenue. In turn, the investment will continue to spur economic development in a strategic area in the Cincinnati region," said Ashley Feist, commercial real estate director.

There have been a number of high visibility sites that have benefited from a Duke Energy Foundation Urban Revitalization grant over the last decade: Hotel Covington, Braxton Brewing, Baker's Table, Warsaw Federal Incline Theater, Kiki's, Tortilleria Garcia, Regal Theater and Norwood Cider Company, to name a few.

Since 2011, more than 100 grants and $3.3 million have been awarded to area recipients through the Duke Energy Foundation.
