PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (AP) _ Dycom Industries Inc. (DY) on Wednesday reported fiscal second-quarter profit of $37 million.

The Palm Beach Gardens, Florida-based company said it had profit of $1.15 per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to $1.18 per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 69 cents per share.

The provider of specialty contracting services posted revenue of $823.9 million in the period, which missed Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $840.5 million.

Dycom Industries shares have increased slightly more than 3% since the beginning of the year. The stock has climbed 18% in the last 12 months.
