Background/Description of the Disclosure
Please be informed that the Board of Directors of the Bank, in its regular meeting dated May 26, 2022, approved the following:
1. Resignation of Mercedes T. Gotianun from the Board effective June 30, 2022 and appointment as Chairwoman Emeritus effective June 30, 2022.
2. Retirement of Antonio C. Moncupa, Jr. as CEO effective December 31, 2022. He will remain as Vice Chairman of the Board.
3. Change in Designation of Antonio C. Moncupa, Jr. from Vice Chairman, President, and CEO to Vice Chairman and CEO effective July 01, 2022.
4. Appointment of Jerry G. Ngo as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) - Designate effective October 01, 2022 and as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective January 01, 2023. This will be subject to regulatory approval.
5. Promotion and appointment of Jacqueline S. Fernandez as President and director, respectively, effective July 01, 2022. This will be subject to regulatory approval.
6. Hiring of Lawrence Lee - Executive Vice President and Head of Consumer Lending effective July 1, 2022. This will be subject to regulatory approval.
Jackie is currently the Chief Lending Officer of the Bank and was a key figure in steering EW to become a major force in consumer lending for the past 16 years. She led the bank to top positions in Auto and Personal Loans, where EW is among the top three largest banks, and guided EW to become the 6th largest credit card issuer. In 2018, the bank consolidated its lending activities, including corporate lending, under Ms. Fernandez with its renewed effort to further expand its business loans portfolio. Before joining EW in 2006, Ms. Fernandez held various roles in credit risk and remedial management in Standard Chartered Bank and Far East Bank and Trust Company.
Jackie obtained her Master's in Business Administration from the University of the Philippines and graduated cum laude in BA Economics from the same university.
Jerry is currently the Special Advisor to the EW Board. He is also currently a consultant of Filinvest Development Corporation and consults with FDC and its subsidiaries on their strategies, potential initiatives, and merger and acquisition opportunities.
Jerry brings to EastWest 30 years of banking and finance experience. He served as group chief finance officer and independent board director of Saratoga Investama Sedaya, one of Indonesia's earliest and largest investment holding company with a current market capitalization of $3 billion. Prior to this, he was the institutional banking head and executive director for ANZ Bank Indonesia, and served as managing director for Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia at Standard Chartered Bank. He also previously worked for Citibank where he held various roles in product management, sales, and operations in Manila, South Korea, and Singapore.
Jerry completed his Master's in Business Administration from the University of Chicago-Booth School of Business, and completed the Advanced Management Program of Harvard Business School. He also received his Master of Management from the University of San Jose-Recoletos in Cebu City.
Lawrence has 30 years of experience in international banking and finance. An experienced business finance, credit cycle, & product country head, regional and global risk / operations leader. He is currently a Principal Consultant at FICO since January 2022. His main role is to assist banks across the region to implement digital transformation through advanced analytics & customer engagement solutions and to transform data lakes into meaningful strategies. Prior joining FICO, he also held a Senior Consultant role at Trusting Social where he helped develop business plans, underwriting policies, and rules; provided insights on credit and operational risk policies for the partnerships and was an advisor for collection and recoveries management.
