• This solar installation will consist of 3,120 panels with a total power of 1.7 MWp and an energy production of approximately 3,020 MWh/year.
  • With this project, the metallurgical company will avoid emitting 739 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere each year, which is equivalent to planting 77,750 trees.
  • For Endesa X, together with other energy efficiency initiatives, solar energy is a viable means for companies to address the decarbonisation of the economy.

Endesa X, Endesa's energy services subsidiary, has signed an agreement for the construction of a self-consumption photovoltaic plant forLa Fonte Ardennaise España (LFA), a metallurgical company dedicated to iron casting and machining belonging to a leading international holding company in the metalworking sector in France. This facility will cover 11% of the energy needs of the intensive factory located in the Sevillian municipality of Guillena, the nerve centre of this company's activity company in our country.

Specifically, Endesa X will install 3,120 solar panels with a total capacity of 1.7 MWp, which will generate an annual energy production of approximately 3,020 MWh (megawatt hours), responding to the company's energy needs.

The manager of LFA España, Emilio José Lima, stressed that "this collaboration with Endesa X is aligned with the company's commitment to reliably participate and contribute in the necessary transition towards the decarbonisation of the energy model for the reduction of greenhouse gases marked by the European Union." He also pointed out that this company works every day to continue modernising its facilities and to be increasingly efficient and effective in its processes, for which it has developed an investment strategy of more than 7 million euros.

For the CEO of Endesa X, Davide Ciciliato, "LFA España's commitment to solar energy will allow it to make a qualitative leap with Endesa X and join the energy revolution in the industrial sector. Self-consumption will allow it to be more competitive and move towards a more environmentally friendly model, to which this company is committed through its Corporate Social Responsibility Policy".

All the new solar panel infrastructure will make it possible to reduce more than 739 tonnes of indirect CO2 emissions into the atmosphere each year, equivalent to planting 77,750 trees. The Spanish industrial sector emits 21.4% of the country's total emissions, so any project of this type contributes to the Net Zero emissions route committed to in international agreements.

Solar energy, together with other energy efficiency initiatives, is one of the key points for addressing decarbonisation in the industrial sector and Endesa X aims to make this possible and adapt to the needs of our customers by implementing projects that take advantage of natural resources, such as this one for photovoltaic self-consumption.

Energy supply, also with Endesa

In order to cover the rest of the energy that the metallurgical company needs to carry out its activity, LFA España has an agreement with the electricity supplier of the Endesa group, Endesa Energía. In fact, as a result of the trust between both parties, the opportunity was created to install a solar plant for self-consumption in the Guillena factory and continue working together to maximise the company's savings.

It is a flexible supply contract, a formula that is increasingly appreciated among high consumer customers such as electro-intensive industries. This formula allows them to diversify the market risk because the pricing is distributed at different times during the term of the contract, being able to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the market. This means that the company has a more competitive price, and to make this possible, Endesa provides its consultancy services, with a team of experts dedicated exclusively to the analysis of energy markets and digital tools specifically designed for the monitoring and operation of the contract. As such, LFA España has a personal advisor who guides the company through the process of managing supply contracts and focuses on optimising energy costs in the long term.

Energy efficiency

The project undertaken on behalf of LFA España also includes an Endesa X Energy Management Service (EMS), which will allow the company to easily monitor the energy produced at the photovoltaic plant, the energy that is self-consumed and the savings generated. This service also enables the company to view its consumption in real time, detecting anomalies, extra costs and deviations, and to study their causes, and with that information to design the measures required for these problems to be solved, which will translate into a direct saving. The EMS does not only provide the customer with data and who then has to interpret it, it also makes an analysis that enables informed decisions to be taken.

Endesa X also offers companies comprehensive advice throughout the process for managing existing support for self-consumption installations, which result in a significant reduction of the panel installation costs, making the return on the investment even more attractive. Endesa X manages these grants for its customers, as well as providing them with the advice they need to choose the best photovoltaic installation option.
